make initrd error
 
i have downloaded the 2.6.10 kernel configured it and compiled fine using
Code:

make-kpkg --initrd kernel_image
i then typed
Code:

dpkg -i kernel-image-2.6.10_10.00.Custom_i386.deb
and got the following error

Pckage `module-init-tools' is not installed and no info is available.
Use dpkg --info (= dpkg-deb --info) to examine archive files,
and dpkg --contents (= dpkg-deb --contents) to list their contents.
/usr/sbin/mkinitrd: checkpkg: dpkg -s module-init-tools failed
Failed to create initrd image.
dpkg: error processing kernel-image-2.6.10 (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 9
Errors were encountered while processing:
kernel-image-2.6.10

can any1 help with this

ok i just realised the prob right after i posted it.

i just did an

apt-get install module-init-tools

and that fixed the prob. suppose i shoulda paid more attention to the error hey :rolleyes:

my system is finaly booting of the 2.6.10 kernel after about three days (many many hours) of trying YAY

one thing thou on boot i get a error saying

what does that mean and hoe do i fix it

Thats probably in the autoload modules part, which is right at the start of the config. The autoload and unload of modules

OK i added "module unloading" into the kernel did a recompile etc and it still giving the same error at startup

should i have also added force module unloading or would that also not have maid a difference?

how do i fix this?
