Logitech quickcam not seen

Hello. I am running debian 4.0 Etch. I have a logitech quickcam that works well under windows XP, but I can't seem to get it to work on Debian. I have tried installing qc-usb-0.6.6 and qc-usb-source. Nothing seems to make the computer recognize the camera. I am trying to use camorama to preview, but keep getting the message
Quote:
Can not connect to device device /dev/video0 Please check connection
The camera comes up if I run "lsusb", but no programs can see it. There are many sites out there about this, but nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance

I have a LegoCam. Logitech put one of their cameras in a lego shell. Whenever I use it on my XP machine, it just registers as quickcam. There doesn't seem to be anything special about it.

That was one of the first things I tried. I downloaded it and installed it as per the directions. I even tried the older version. I get a bunch of errors when I type "make all". I would post them, but there are too many to post. I also tried a few other tutorials that say to use uvc-source. Those didn't seem to work either
