I just installed the latest Debian 3.1 with kernel 2.6.8. I was trying to install gDesklets but it told me I need libgtop 2.8.

i downloaded libgtop 2.8.1 - it configured properly but on make it gives me the following and at the end you can see some recursive errors which Im not sure what they mean:

Please let me know if you have any idea why libgtop is not properly compiling.
Thanks

You shouldn't be trying to compile it when there is a precompiled package to it. apt-get install libgtop2-5 should do it (contrary to what we may think judging on the name, it is libgtop version 2.10).

libgtop2-5

I was trying to install libgtop2-5, but I don't have the package in synaptic. I was wondering how I could get libgtop2-5.

Don't know which version of gdesklets you tried to install, but if you apt-get it from stable it needs libgtop2-2 which is also in stable.
