Let dpkg install files with custom permissions and ownership?
Hi!
I'm using Debian SID, I'm the only user of this box.
I am member of the group 'games', and made /usr/games and all files and directories below to belong to this group and be writable by members of this group, so I can exchange graphics and sounds or whatever I like as a normal user.
However, every time I upgrade a package or install a new one, its files belong to root:root.
atm I let ownerships be changed with a cronjob.
So I was wondering whether there is a way to let apt/dpkg automatically change permissions and ownership of installed files, according to given rules, e.g.:
* all files below a certain path
* all files from packages in a certain group
dpkg-statoverride does not seem to be made for such a purpose.
I made /usr/games sticky with chmod +s but dpkg does not seem to respect that.
Thanks in advance
