Im having problems getting wine to run any games on desktop ..even 10 year old games like HalfLife..and I dont mean through steam..i still have the Game of the year cd..every game does same..Install ,but when i go to run..it ..its all screwed up..like a combination of wrong refresh rate and big jumbled square pixels..If i set it to run at set desktop size its fine..but full screen it boinked..i had added wine repo from there site and used that wine..
I want to be able to play it full screen and not in a window..last distro i tried..Centos..i could..but I just didnt care for Centos that much..nice distro..but i always seem to come back to debian.
i added this "Option "UseFastTLS" "2" xorg.conf but didnt help.. http://wiki.winehq.org/fglrx
I removed the wine repo and removed wine and installed wine from debian repo..wines was 13 megs..while debians version is like 135megs..deleted /home/myname/.wine and ran winecfg and reinstalled game. But it wouldnt do anything..launching it from command line gave no errors..just didnt do anything..

Hi there stratotak,
What graphics card do you have? Are the drivers correctly installed? Do you only have problems with wine or are native games also giving you trouble? (try some, like AssaultCube to check if it works). And last, but not least, are you using some fancy desktop effects? Because they can interfere with the game, from my personal experience.
Its a Ati 9800 Pro..I dont play any of the new games as its a older system..i built pc to play games at around the time HL2,doom 3 came out..so I was a casual gamer pc..It will play most games like Hl2,Far Cry,Doom 3 at medium setting nicely. It will play linux 3d games like Warsow,Sauerbrate,Nexiuz ..maybe not as fast as windows but still playable.Fglrxinfo shows ati driver..glxinfo shows direct rendering yes.So 3d works..And i dont use those opengl effects..They were cool for like 10 minutes..opening a app and have it burst into flames or beam me up scooty style was cool for a bit..but soon became annoying
