Lenny: mic doesn't work in Skype
Hi, I'm quite new to Debian.
I've installed Lenny, installed Skype, installed Alsa (I have not made any alterations though), put the front mic in, but when I make a phone call the other person cannot hear me (I can hear them perfectly).
Note: I enabled mic in the Volume control applet and can hear my voice in the speakers when I speak. The problem is related to Skype only.

Hya,
Depending on your penguin configuration, it may happen. Not knowing what you have, it is a kind of hard to answer your question.
Detailed information would be of much help.
Happy Penguins!

Have you tried the skype test call just to make sure that the problem isn't with the other user?

Sorry, I forgot. My audio is Chip Realtek ALC622. I'm running Skype Version 2.0.0.72.

Yes, I've tried making test calls with various settings in Skype Sound Devices (Sound In, Sound Out, Ringing). No result though.

I don't understand. Does that mean you didn't hear the playback of your own voice?
cheers,
jdk

I'm having a similar problem...
If I plug the mic in the onboard card the other person can hear me, but if I plug it on the PCI card the sound is not enabled...
Try plugging it on the onboard card if you have one...
I know this is not the best solution but.. Hey! you can now use skype =P

You have tried adjusting the input settings of your mixer?
Can you use your mic to record things in audacity or some other program?
cheers,
jdk
