latex2e package unavailable in package manager or apt-get

i can only find Latex2.09 in the synaptic package manager

how do i find new servers to download packages from? maybe there are other servers that offer Latex2e. i tried apt-get but i had the same problems

# apt-get install latex2e
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package latex2e

i could try to find the source for latex2e myself, but there must be a reason why latex2e isnt availible on debian (im running sarge kernal 2.28 i think)... its been used for about 10 years!

I've got the same problem as you...

I think SuSE supports LaTeX2e...

I got it. You need to install tetex from Synaptic. don't forget tetex-extra.
