Knoppix style hardware detection in Debian
 

I am wondering if it is possible to have Knoppix style hardware detection in Debian. Is there a package for this?

Not sure what you mean. Debian does hardware detection. I believe there are some additional packages you can use like hotplug and discover from the repositories. Most hardware detection depends on what kernel is used and what modules are compiled into that kernel. Etch and Sid should have relatively good hardware detection since they use newer kernels. Sarge may struggle with some newer hardware.
