For some reason the install of debian through knoppix goes well, but then when I want to make a boot disc it does not make it. Then I say ok, fine, I won't make one.
I reboot and log on. Type in my name pass etc. Then I do failsafe because it is not finding my mouse. When it boots up it freezes. Did I install it right? I can't do anything with the keyboard or the mouse but I see the konsule thing.
I also tried KDE and after it loads it, it just freezes. Can't get into the terminal with crtl alt f1 or f2..
I have a usb mouse and I tried a ps2 mouse also so that is not the problem. I really want to install Debian but I can't even install Debian because I get a whole bunch of problems with X no matter what. Now I go to install debian through knoppix and that doesn't even work..
All I do to start to install it is, click the terminal button on the menu and login as root by su - . I am not sure how else you can do it..then I type knx-hdinstall and follow the steps.
Try booting from the CD with the 'knoppix noacpi' boot option, then do the hard-drive install. I had problems with acpi on my motherboard (Abit-KT7) that interfered with USB operation.
If that doesn't work, try installing the 2003-07-26 version of Knoppix 3.2 and see if that makes a difference.
At boot, type knoppix lang=en noacpi. You can add other boot options after 'knoppix', such as screen=1280x1024, etc. The boot codes are all listed at http://www.knoppix.net/docs/index.php/CheatCodes
hmm, nope. I used 3.2 and that didn't work. I also tried noacpi with 3.2 and that didn't work either. It still will just load up and freeze and no mouse. I also tried to have it load up any programs and that didn't seem to help either.
