Keyboard stops working halfway into installation.

Hi All,
I'm trying to install Debian 3.1r1 onto a Dell Optiplex 210L and have successfully gotten to the point where the installation reboots to finish configuration. However, while the system is starting the USB keyboard stops working. Notes-

1- Keyboard works fine in GRUB / BIOS, etc.

2- When the modules start to get loaded messages like "usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout" and "new USB device not accepting new address" start to appear and the keyboard stops functioning.

3- Unfortunately there are no PS/2 connectors, so a PS/2 keyboard is out of the question

4- Unplugging and re-plugging in the keyboard has the same (null) effect.

5- `lspci -v | grep HCI` shows both Intel UHCI and EHCI controllers present.

So, my question is, is there some magic modules.conf alias I can use to get the basic USB keyboard working again, should I try again with 3.1r3 or Etch?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks,

John
