Question kernel 2.6.16-ck1, alsa, oss, frozen xmms ;)

Ok,

You might have guessed from the topic what's this about.
I've upgraded to kernel (vanilla) 2.6.16 with ck1 patch. The problem no1 was sound didn't work. I got new alsa from Sid, used alsaconfig and thing now works, however, there's snapping in the sound and I have no clue how to get rid of it.
Second, OSS didnt work, I recompiled kernel with old OSS support as Module, OSS now works great.
The problem is, I played xmms (oss) and it froze, kill -9 didn't do anything. I rebooted and now everything works, but instead of xmms I used mocp.
Any Ideas are welcome. I'd like to shed some light here.
