kernel 2.6.16-18 upgrade issue
I upgraded to kernel 2.6.16-18 from kernel 2.6.16-2 yesterday. During the upgrade apt told me that the kernel I was upgrading to had the same version number as the old one. Since I was using 2.6.16-2, it was made a file to store the modules and a restart was required to correct this.
I did what it told me to do but when I rebooted it failed to find my sound card. It said /dev/dsp not found or missing. I checked and there were no such folder. I use alsa sound driver. What do I need to do to get rid of this problem and have my sound back. |
Seems like it could be a udev issue if you use it, it seems from the posts I have read that new kernel=newer udev needed so check to make sure you have upgraded it as well.

Hi again to my best helper.
I upgraded udev and that solved the problem. Thanks again ;) |
