kde4 style apps in gnome (squeeze) text problem

I've tested this out on k9copy and amarok2 (I know that that's from experimental, but anyway...) and I've found that some update today or yesterday has messed up the way text is displayed in these two apps. Has anyone else seen this?

The text still displays, but it's roughly drawn, as if the font isn't being picked properly. Does anybody know what this problem even is? Maybe it has something to do with qt4? My gnome text all seems to display just fine.

Yes it is a QT 4 issue on a non-native desktop. I found it happens even when I used QT 3 and KDE 3.5.x. I haven't investigated the exact issue deeply enough to offer a solution.

Will this help? http://arstechnica.com/open-source/n...with-gnome.ars

Maybe you can possibly set the Qt 4 theme to mimic gnome as closely as possible. Run the "Qt4 settings" tool using qtconfig-qt4.

In KDE 3/4 it is possible to "theme" GTK applications to use KDE or QT as its rendering engine. I'm not sure whether Gnome offers a similar functionality for QT or KDE apps.

The qtconfig-qt4 program effects my kde3 apps, but not my kde4 apps. I can change the font on VirtualBox, for instance, BUT not for k9copy or amarok2 or juK. Is there a program for managing the kde4 desktop's fonts, or is qtconfig-qt4 supposed to handle it??

Finally figured this one out. In KDE 4 there's a program called 'systemsettings'. If you run this utility and you go to the 'General' tab, you can then choose 'Appearance' and finally 'Fonts'. Here I found that the anti-aliasing on my fonts was turned off for some reason. It only effected my kde 4 apps. Anyway I changed the setting 'Use anti-aliasing' to 'Enabled' and everything worked smoothly and more importantly looked right.
