KDE+gnome

Hello there. I do have an installation of woody with kernel 2.2.20, and KDE 3.1. At the moment, everytime i switch on my pc, it starts in a console mode, and when typing startx it goes to kde graphical environment. My question is how can i add gnome as well, but without having to have a display manager like gdm. So everytime i boot it comes the console, and startx1 brings the kde, startx2 brings the gnome. Is that possible?

Few ways to archieve that comes into mind:
  • Run 'update-alternatives --config x-window-manager' and chose something.
  • Run 'STARTUP=/path/to/windowmanager/program startx'.
  • Use '~/.xsession' file to set up your own X initialization sequence.

There may be others.
