Try running "firefox -P" from an xterm. This will open the profile manager, try creating a new profile and using firefox with that.

I had the same problem on debian and I eventually solved it like that but you may need to try a few different settings in the profile manager first

Good luck....

The Gtk Warning concerning Locale isn't all that big a deal....that has to do with location and language settings, and it is falling back to a default from what it looks like.

the rest looks like you are trying to run Firefox from a login that is not authorized to open X-sessions on that console. This can happen if you have logged in as a user, then su-ed to root or another user, then tried to start firefox. One way to counteract this for testing purposes would be to issue the command xhost +localhost, which will allow any X-program to launch that is started from that local machine.
