Are the installed OSes via Netinst ISO and BusinessCard ISO the same?

Once the installation is completed, is there any difference in the OSes between that is installed via the netinst ISO and that is installed via the businesscard ISO?

Thanks !

Not assuming you installed the same meta-pkgs.
It all ends up at the same place.

what's a meta-pkg??

does debian have a "minimal install" sort of thing?? and if so, is the minimal install the same with either netinst and businesscard??

i wanna install debian on a spare partition but i'm not sure which ISO i want... i get the concept of netinst but i'm not sure what comes on the businesscard cd...

The difference is the amount of software included in the CD(s), however that makes no difference as all packages can be downloaded from the net.

but is there like a "base install" or "minimal install" that one can do with either of the CDs which will install the same packages?? i'm thinking something along the lines of the "a" series in slackware...

When you get to the point during installation of choosing the package categories (meta-pkgs), you can just select what you would prefer, and then choose the individual package selection option. When aptitude starts up you can scroll through the list that is presented and select or remove whatever you want. In this way you can make the install as minimal or full as you like.

EDIT: If you want total control over the process and only desire a very minimal system to begin with, then follow the procedure above with the net-installer, but when aptitude begins do a 'q' keystroke to quit which will drop you to the command line. Then you can 'apt-get install' anything or nothing. At this point you would just have an install that is bootable with the base system files, but no X or desktop environments.

At the packages / roles (Desktop, Database, etc) selection stage, I did not select anything, but the installation proceed with downloading and installing packdages like exim4, automatically. Is there any way to install a minimal base system? I've tried both the netinst and businesscard iso.

Or does debian needs those additional packages like exim4 to boot successfully?

Thanks !
