Intel 855GM XFree86 problem on Sarge

Hi all

I have installed yesterday on my laptop Debian sarge 3... but for increbidle that looks debian caní configire correctly my grahpics card, (first distro where this appeans). Maybe because of being XF86 instead ou X.org, well the fact is that when I try to to change something on the X configuration file /etc/X11/XFree... I reboot the computer and then every thing is the same. I have been trying to configure also via XF86config.

Help?

What laptop model? Have you looked at www.linux-laptop.net/ or tuxmobile site for list including debian install on your lappy? What kernel are you using? You may need a kernel module before the i810 video driver will work. Have you tried knoppix or kanotix-2005-04 live cd(2.6.14x kernel) on your lappy to compare /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file and lsmod results?
