Installing .deb packages
I know that apt-get, aptitude, and dpkg are the best tools for getting and installing packages. I, however, have come across a corrupt /var partion which happens to store all my apt, and dpkg information. How can I re-install aptitude from the .deb package to get things back to working?
Sorry if you have done this already but....
Have you run fsck on the disk? this may fix the corruption.
Other than that I know there is a way to rebuild your apt, sadly I tried it and it failed leaving me with having to reinstall debian. Thank god for a seperate /home partition.
