Hi,

I do not know where you got the idea that I downloaded the installer off the web.

The installer came with the Ubuntu DVD.

But a word of advise - if you have a netinst CD let it alone - its really difficult to work on that CD without an internet connection.

hi

I installed redhat v9 for the first timeon my pc (ach i386) and it has a dual core processor the OS is really slow .When I had installed Ubuntu dvd on the pc - my pc rocked but with red hat it is crawling to a halt. It takes me 18 minutes to copy 120 pics from the cd !!! Ubuntu would do tht in under 30 secs. Red Hat is consuming enormous resourses on my pc - letting me use only the marginal amt. I am too new to red Hat to try and experiment. Ok, I got the CD's from one of the redhat bibles and honestly they are a disappiontment - specially when you consider tht it is Linux.
I can't go back to Ubuntu coz two processes kacpid and kacpi_notify almost fry my processors - driving them to 117% of their power. The Ubuntu kernel does not support apm. And the home pc is not online
Can someone help me with this -
