installation cd set

I wanted to download isos from

http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=4

but I am not sure which isos I need.

So, do I need
1. disk 1 generic boot
2. disk 2 'vanilla' if that's what I choose
3. disk 6
4. disk 7
?

Do I need more or less than this?
I just want play a little bit with Debian, nothing serious.

thanks

umm, to be honest. I think you downloaded the wrong stuff. :) well, not entirely. If you want to just play with Debian then I highly, let me state that again, I highly recommend the network-installer. It is one of the greatest advancements in the installation process that Debian has had in a long time(in my opinion). besides, It's small and It'll do most of the installation on it's own. if you have an internet connection on the computer you are trying to set up, then please save yourself a lot of trouble and get the net-installer.

Less if you have the bandwith to download ISO's then you have it to do a network install just grab the latest Sarge floppy installer disks and go to it. If you really want to install Woody then there are disks available for it as well you would want to bf2.4 variety.

Glad to see you online Tux. Less, here is a site you need to read before installing Debian with the network installer:
http://d-i.alioth.debian.org/manual/en.i386/apb.html

after that you can get the network installer from here:
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

i also wanted to download sarge but i found its 13 cds , so i want to know which are the base cd and the one containing kde as i want a desktop installation

i cant use network-installation as i have a usb dsl (pppoa) which i must download its driver and certain packages then recompile the kernel to make it work
