Angry INIT script hangs up?

Two evenings before now everything is ok. Now I have updated my unstable Debian and he hangs up at the INIT scripts is booting.

INIT v2.84 booting (or so?)

Strange, I thought we have 2.85?

Well, I updated it to 2.85 and the erros remains...

Now I'm going to backup my data and home directories and re-installing the whole system (like you have to do with Windows after a couple of months).

1st question: Do you know what's wrong there?

2nd question: Where did I find or how do I create the configuration file for selected deb packages?

Please help me out here!

1. Hmm... Might be something with the initial ramdisk.
Also using debsums to check if something is broken might be usefull.
What is the error message you get?

2.
For the list of selected packages: dpkg --get-selections > aPackagelist
(to install them back, you can use dpkg ---set-selections < aPackagelist)

For the configs, take backup of your /etc and /var/lib directory. The selections done in the package installation phase can be found from /var/cache/debconf/config.dat (somewhat strange place; see http://bugs.debian.org/223039 why it is so).
