I will admit that this is the first time I have installed a debian based distribution since I ran the late Stormix back in the day so I was pretty eager to try my hand at the infamous apt-get. For more advanced users apt is a great and easy way to update and install software for FREE! Most of the free applications found in the Click-n-Run warehouse can be found in the debian packages. Looking in "/etc/apt/sources.list" you will find that the Lindows install comes with the default Debian apt sources already configured. The next step was to do a "apt-get update" and I was ready to go. My first line of business was to install gimp so that I could finally take some screenshots so I typed "apt-get install gimp" in the console and a minute later I was taking screenshots! It's that easy. I installed a few other packages and then installed Synaptic, a GUI frontend for apt. I then edited the Click-n-Run icons to launch Synaptic during my three day jaunt with Lindows. Using Synaptic I then installed OpenOffice.org, gftp, and many other packages. Synaptic isn't the most user-friendly way to install applications but it works and is free.
