nope, that's sad. it was with Lenny, after cold-reset.
Trust me ... :o

after cold-reset.
as in:
shut off the computer by killing the power?
The filesystem check on the reboot went successfully?
and only that one thing is not working - from terminal, no error-messages?

Then I don't know!

repo 10-24-2009 10:59 AM

Do you get any errormessages when you run
Code:

iceweasel -safe-mode
in a terminal?

craigevil 10-24-2009 12:09 PM

Try iceweasel --safe-mode not iceweasel -safe-mode

jomen 10-24-2009 12:47 PM

firefox --help
gives me:
Code:

...
Firefox options
...
-safe-mode
...

and:
I can only call it via the command: "firefox"
That is why I wrote it like that in my post above...

This is on Gentoo - and Debian may have made "iceweasel" a symlink to it.
Or the other way around.
Don't know.

from man iceweasel

Code:

-safe-mode
Starts Iceweasel in safe mode, that is disabling all extensions and showing a bit more debugging messages.

They both work though.

well luckily that with kde with konqueror we can do internet, because otherwise I wouldnt have Internet anymore, because I am not root to install something that is not buggy as iceweasel. Galeon was usually not crashy / buggy as firefox.

So nothing works.
H E L P !

You could try to rename
/home/user/.mozilla/firefox

You can install firefox using the tar file, it will install in your home directory

And my bookmarks and cookies? they are going to be lost.
I did several times rm -rf .mozilla, but its getting enough. Its just the problem of in squeeze, in lenny , iceweasel was more stable.

I could too rm -rf $HOME ;)

Your bookmarks where gone the first time you did this...
and it's you who did it - not firefox
...you could have just moved or copied it - then imported it into the freshly created profile
- you still can, if you still have them somewhere

Firefox will use the settings from .mozilla/firefox
Try to install, and see

It's still testing.

I have both Iceweasel 3.5.3 and Firefox 3.5.3 both with the same bookmarks, passwords, extensions; it has been forever since I have had major issues with iceweasel but I do find that Firefox is a tad faster and uses a bit fewer resources. In 5 yrs of running sid not once have I had to remove or rename a profile to get iceweasel/firefox to work. If you are having the same issues over and over my guess is you have either extensions/themes or a plugin that isn't playing nice.
