I need a good, small, debian based distro

I'm planning on running a linux server. Are there any smaller distros beside DSL and Feather? If so, which would you reccomend? Thanx!

A network install of Debian itself will give you the option of installing a set of packages based on the intended use of the system. If you select to install a server system, you will get only the required packages and AFAIK no X windows. Unless your system has a miniscule amount of RAM and hd space, or you want to run from removable media, this might be your best option.

The 'small' version of the netinstaller is the 'businesscard' installer iso which is sized to fit on a 50MB businesscard CD (I think the iso is approx. 40MB).

look for the the text "Official businesscard images for the stable release" located towards the bottom of this page:
http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/#businesscard-stable

The above 'small' iso is good for server setups, many people (including me) run production servers with it. Aside from being a convenient size to download and as Mikieboy said above, it produces a minimal install which keeps your server simple (not much bloat). Indeed he is correct, X is not included in (at least the business card) installer.

And of course the beauty of Debian is that you could add X if you wanted by simply typing
apt-get install x-window-system
and probably
apt-get install gnome
or
apt-get isntall fluxbox

and it will all work.
