I had to reinstall Debian Sarge. I am certain of the user name and password I chose during installation but I can't get in. It won't allow a root login either! What can I do? I've installed Debian it seems a million times and this has never happened.
Ok I'm in now. There is an option on the sign-in screen to configure. I selected the option to allow root sign. Luckily the password worked and I was in. I guess I fat-fingered the password for user when I installed.
