I'm having trouble downloading debian. Every time I successfully download a dvd iso via ftp from the University of Oregon the md5 doesn't match. I also tried downloading a cd version but same result. Does somebody know of a good mirror to download debian DVD iso's? It takes 12 hours to download one dvd iso just to have it not be correct. This is wasting my time in a serious way. I've actually thought about just buying the DVDs. I'm going to hit somebody in the face!
Why don't you download a CD with BitTorrent? You need only the first CD (I know there are about 14, but you need only the first one). The rest of the programs that aren't on the first CD you can just download off the internet as you need them.
When using bittorrent, I got a whopping 2kb/s so I went back to ftp(using a nice client not browser). I just downloaded cd-1 from a different edu and it had the same incorrect md5 sum so both edu's had the same file. I'm just going to go ahead and download the dvd iso's and install them and see what happens.
Is there some extra thing I need to know about md5 sums and debian releases that I couldn't find using search? This forum is awesome btw nice place
This downloads the isos as small files, and assembles them on your computer. If a single file is corrupted, it just automatically downloads it again, rather than corrupting the whole image.
