Greetings everyone. I am in dire need of avoiding a re-install of my PA-RISC based system.

The meat of the problem is my machine is missing the initrd.img symbolic link and associated RAMDISK image, due to a suspected malicious attack. I'll post another question in the Security fourm when I get my machine running again (if I can keep everything intact).

The question is this... How do I get it running again? Okay more specifically how to a A) regenerate an image, or B) install one from another source when this is the only machine of it's type in my possession?

If there is any more information that you need, please please let me know and I will get it to you as soon as possible.

i'm not sure that this will work but it's worth a try. remove and reinstall the damages packages. config again. make the links from the desktop and put them into place.
