How to (safely) remove software from Debian/Q4os
From the Application menu(s)-----
Zutty ?whatsit??? I want to remove it. How ? FireFox How ? LibreOfficeStartCenter How ? Using Discover(kde), I have added everything I want, and deleted several that I don't use ,,, but then "discovered", not all programs are listed in "Discover". Since I'm a Q4os newbie, thought maybe I should ask. Any help is appreciated ;>) |
As it seems to be Debian based, I would use apt-get -purge, or apt -purge, to remove software, including any setup info from your disk.

Thank you fatmac :hattip:
Debian apt autoremove & apt remove firefox WOW! 118 files (most were orphans). Zutty is/was another KDE file-editor. Must be a menu 'straggler'. LibreOfficeStartCenter is NOT part of LibreOffice. StartCenter is an add-on from ???-user-group. Like a ramora-fish, when I whacked LibreOffice, it became another straggler. Did not know KDE was a fully-developed system. Q4os made a nice desktop (like old MINT/Xfce) with all the KDE bells & whistles, then added Awfice + Firefox atop Debian. Plus its FAST !!! Cold boot this iMAC takes 100 seconds, plus Debian/Q4os, total +-200 seconds. But, from hibernate to logon to desktop 30seconds ! I'll slowly learn to drive this new electric vehicle ! I helped develop "smit" for TinyCore Startup,Clock,Shutdown, etc. Still have it on a TranscendCompactFlash133X ("X" means 133 times faster that a 3" diskette :) |
