How to login to a LINI PC Ubuntu Debian box?

I recently bought a LINI PC from Open Sense Solutions, which comes preinstalled with Ubuntu Linux. It arrived this evening, and it boots up to the Ubuntu login screen. Does anyone know what is the default password for this distribution? I cannot login as root in order to create any user accounts.

Ubuntu 5.04 is a "rootless" (no root user) distribution. You log in as a user and open a sudo terminal for administration. (Only the first created user has this by default.)

Thanks Simon. In this case, however, it's not the lack of the root login that was the problem, it's the lack of any login. Ubuntu is pre-installed and there was no indication of how to login.

I resolved it by emailing Open Sense Solutions; they apologized for forgetting to tell me the name and passwd for their default user account.

Ah - and thus the confusion.
The solution to not knowing the default user account is to ask the supplier. It's normally quicker than a forum anyway. OTOH: one may not realise there is no root account.
