Isolating lines of dmesg that contain "usb" is not that helpful
I would prefer the 10-15 last lines of demesg when you connect the stick in, but nevermind.
The scenario.
Most 3g modems are actually a modem and a flash drive on the same device, so as to get their drivers auto-installed when plugged in under windows. You may agree with me that this behaviour is stupid, but there is only one solution to it.
The solution.
Before plugging the device in, unload module usb-storage.
This is done by running
Code:
rmmod usb-storage
as root.
After that, plug the device in and it will be identified as a 3g modem and appear on network manager. There you can configure the relevant details for the 3g connection and connect to the internet with it.
Keep in mind that while the above module is unloaded, anything "storage related" that is connected on usb will not work.
In my Dabain Lenny installation , i could not find network manager which i have seen in fedora. and your command is working perfectly but it s not detected , or i don't have an idea how to check it . So i am going to install Fedora then i will be able to do as you said. i ll try it and come. thanks in advance
I tried it and it really works (i think that my device is a zte too, but i use squeeze and nm can use it directly). I did use it for another 3g device that was not detected correctly by the kernel and i could connect to the internet with it after setting it up with sakis3g (after switching it, even network-manager had it listed and accesible).
Edit: use the full version. Look around for set-up instructions, they are straightforward. You probably will have to compile the embedded usb-modeswitch as lenny does not have it by default, but that operation is a simple command from within sakis3g.

Thanks A lot. It is really working. sakis3g is a magic tool.
Following are the steps,
01) plug the USB device
02) unzip and run the sakis3g script with the following command
./sakis3g --interactive (In the root terminal)
03) Then select the internet provider(It is listed there)
04) Enter the user name and password (I entered null for both)
05) then it is connected.now you have internet.
Thanks for the help with the sakis3g web site and the other suggestions.
now i can enjoy Debian as i was hoping. wow wow wow !!!!!.
