How to install (japanese) font sets?

How do I go about installing japanese font sets on Debian?
I tried searching for an apt-get package without success.
Thanks.

Don't know about Woody or Sarge, but if your /etc/apt/sources.list has "unstable" repositories, you should be able to do this:

apt-get install xfonts-intl-japanese

to find more Japanese stuff:

apt-cache search japanese

Thanks. I downloaded that package and restarted X but Firebird won't display Japanese characters. Are there some settings I have to mess around with in Firebird? (I can't seem to find any)

I'm not trying to view a specific site, but this was one of the sites I tried: http://www.aquaplus.co.jp/
All I got were these boxes... you know with the numbers inside...
Thanks.

I'm using Firebird 0.7 and I tried setting the Japanese fonts to Bitstream Vera but nothing changed. Any idea of what might be wrong? Because I don't... o_O
Thanks for the help so far, though.

atheist, try to set your locales to en_us.utf-8 , dpkg-reconfigure locales and choose en_us.utf-8 as default
also in your ~/.bash_profile

LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8
LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8

export LC_ALL LC_MESSAGES LC_CTYPE

Hope this will help.
