how to create kernel-headers?

I am trying to install some programs with apt (ipw2200-source being one of them) which require kernel-headers. I understand that kernel headers are used to help programs locate libraries and stuff on a debian machine, and I was hoping I could try and get aroudn this somehow so that I could use a newer kernel whcih is not supported with debian kerenl headers. So my question is if there might be some way to create kernel headers from my kernel source and config files or something. Thanks!

Sorry but it's not clear to me why you want to create kernel headers, there are available in the repository and if you built your kernel, you have to use the same kernel source anyway...
by the way if your point is to install ipw2200, I did it and it's quite easy, no need of creating a kernel-header yourself...
Good Luck!
A.

If you build your own kernel the Debian-way, you get kernel-headers-package as easy as buildning the kernel-package (you DO have kernel package, don't you).

You just install a package with a name like kernel-pkg or something (look in aptitude for what package is recomended for debina kernel sources).

(Not on a debian machine right now)

sh4d0w13 I know that you need the headers and/or kernel sources if you want to build a driver module of some type or other.

See http://www.aboutdebian.com/compile.htm (under "Going Modular") for details.
