I installed netware 6.5 first, then installed debian. Now grub doesn't read the netware install at all. It's still there but it was never found by lilo.
Can someone help me out with this please?
I'm having a resolution issue as well (probably a common problem, I'll most likely be able to find the answer on google) My monitor supports 1650x1000, but gnome says my max is 800x600
Check out http://www.togaware.com/linux/survivor/--Desktop survival guide.
Check out Post-install Configuration article at top of debian forum.
What monitor type are you using? What does lspci show about your video card? If video card uses nvidia or ati drive, there are many guides for installing either driver in sarge. For example http://wiki.serios.net/wiki/Main_Page
Grub manual should give you guide to editing grub menu to add netware item.
Have fun with sarge!
I'm using a dell 2005FPW. Max resolution 1680x1050.
The card I have for the machine is an IBM. The website says
Code:
Video adapters Maximum supported resolutions
Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2
* 15-pin VGA output on planar
* Uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT)
* 32-bitZ-buffer depth
* 300MHz DAC
For models without a separate video card, memory supports both system and video. System memory used by video may be up to 32MB if the system has 128MB installed, and up to 64MB if the systemhas 256MB or more system memory installed, depending on video mode.
640 x 480, 16M colors (60, 72, 75, 85, 100, 120 Hz)
800 x 600, 16M colors (60, 72,75, 85, 100, 120 Hz)
1024 x 768, 16M colors (60, 70, 75, 85, 100, 120 Hz)
1152 x 864, 16M colors (60, 75, 85, 100 Hz)
1280 x 720, 16M colors (60, 75, 85, 100, 120 Hz)
1280 x 768, 16M colors (60, 75, 85 Hz)
1280 x 960, 16M colors (60, 75, 85 Hz)
1280 x 1024, 16M colors (60, 75, 85, 100 Hz)
1400 x 1050, 16M colors (60, 75, 85 Hz)
1600 x 900, 16M colors (60, 75, 85, 100 Hz)
1600 x 1200, 16M colors (60, 75, 85 Hz)
1856 x 1393, 16M colors (60 Hz)
1920 x 1080, 16M colors (60, 75 Hz)
1920 x 1200, 16M colors (60 Hz)
Does that mean resolution won't work correctly with this monitor since the integrated graphics card supports only higher and lower then what I need?
edit: it uses this chipset "Intel 865G chipset graphics memory controller hub (MCH)"
No but with that intel chipset info you can look up what is best driver and reconfigure display settings that are best for you.
You owe yourself looking at the referred guides to best setup your pc. Once you get the hang of it you will be giving others advce.
. Hope you are still having fun!
