There's more than way to comment an apt.conf
 

To be complete, $ man apt.conf gets us:

Lines starting with // are treated as comments (ignored), as well as all text between /* and */, just like C/C++ comments.

If apt-get installs suggested packages every time you install a package your machine will be full in no time.
apt-get installs only what is necessary.
If apt-get installs suggests then what about the suggests for the suggested?

You can look at some of the packages here & see how many items are suggested for different packages.

Hmm, after 9 years we are still suggesting ways to completely bloat an inocent install of Debian.
