How to configure a buttons on my laptop to support volume control?


i have buttons on my laptop that is used to +/- the volume of the machine....

how to make those buttons to work with linux?

(i have no single clue how to do that )

FYI: i am using compaq presario X1000)

Edit: i have read this http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Use_Multimedia_Keys

and dont know what it tells.....

Edit....after 15 minutes of tweaking....it finally works.....
