The book listed on the website and it is also available through the debian repos just like the entire program is available in the Debian repos.

Sorry, k3lt01 assumed, as did I, that you wanted to build something yourself.

You might consider it. Seems to work quite well, haven't had the time to do things my way quite yet but will soon. The examples it the three tutes seem to work very well with stable and testing versions.

I don't have the skill or the mental energy to handle building my own Debian that way...

Okay I see what you are talking about. Tried to make a Sid disk but it failed with this message.

62Chevy, the problem you encountered needs some homework doing. I would suggest you try looking at debian packages for problems like this. In this case the package you mention is only available in Lenny and Squeeze.

If you ignore everything you don't need, that whole howto becomes a lot smaller (as in one page)
At the end, everything is still automated

PS: It's not what I personnally consider "debian from scratch" though (more like a cutomized original).

That is what I was thinking but at 1 O'clock in the morning I wasn't going to do any home work. LOL

Anyways still thinking there should be a howto on the live site for this gadget.

It would, I think, be worth your time to read that whether you use it yourself or use the site you linked, which will be using those scripts in exactly that manner.

I am not sure what you want to do but if you want to include any non free stuff I think you will have to do that your self.

That project also has a mailing list that is linked in that manual.

That project is what turns out the Debian Live CDs.

As a long time tester of Ubuntu dev releases and ISO testing the chance to see what it takes to make a Live CD is pretty tempting. I just need to find the time.

I have read the manual twice, once before trying anything and once after trying the first 2 tutorial examples. Need to redo the second (been too long since I did it) and then try the 3rd were you are modifying the results of the 2nd. I think if you do that you are probably ready to make up one of your own.

I am going to start with a real basic version with some rescue things added along with a custom look. Then I need to work on producing that long awaited distro Cynix.
