How do I get the /etc/X11/X file rebuilt from scratch
I believe that my binary file /etc/X11/X has somehow become corrupted. I want to delete it and have it rebuilt from scratch, but I'm not sure what process does that.
Should I completely remove xorg, and reinstall it, or is there a less intimidating way. This is on my AMD64, and so any reinstallation of xorg has to come from Sid. I think Xorg in Sid is pretty stable right this minute, but if there is a better solution, I'd like to use it. |
I think if you just delete it and run "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" it should make a new file.

Yep...you´re right..
thats the easiest way to rebuild the xserver config :) |
That is not working on the last xorg 1:7.0.17.
It just stops at says that /etc/X11/X has been modified. I tried deleting that (just a sym link anyways) and re-running the script) and it just stops at the part before the monitor settings with no errors. I assume that this is what you are referring to Rickh. I do not have a solution. I have to manually edit the file. |

Still didn't fix my real problem tho, which is that GLX does not work at all. |
