How do I enable DMA for my DVD


I have Debian 3.1 Unstable running on a Dell Inspiron 5000 with a DVD player. I installed xine and the DVD playback is jumpy. I don't know the command to enable DMA. Any help would be great!

I found the answer!

apt-get install hdparm

then

hdparm -d1 /dev/cdrom
