How can I install debian stable (multiple cds) without burning the isos?
I have tried to find a debian stable DVD ISO, eighter a torrent or on a ftp-server near me, but have had no success. I was going to do this by mountig the iso on loopback after starting from a slackware cdrom.
So, if none knows any ftp-server in sweden or finland or such, or know where I can find a torrent, I'd like to know how to install from multiple cds.
No, I can't, because I don't think debian has that good support for acx100-based wireless network-cards. I have had to compile them on every other linux I've tried, so network-install doesn't seem to be an option for me.
Use sarge netinstall. It does have support for acx100 but how good I dont know. You could always do a "debian" install from the Kanotix livecd installer, its all sid(unstable branch) works beautifully...also has great wireless support.
I actually use the debian install on kanotix, which actually works wery good, but hardware accelleration on opengl doesn't work as good as I'd like (have got a gf2mx400), so I thought that it would work better with just debian, instead of some other debian-based distro.
The gf2 has worked good for me on other distros, but I prefer debian for many reasons. One is the package-manager.
But if you say kanotix should work as good as debian, I'll think that it's useless to change distro form kanotix to debian. I guess I'll just have to ask on kanotix's irc-channel (again) what's wrong...
In /usr/local/bin Kano added a bunch of scripts for the problems most seem to encounter. There are 2 nvidia drivers install scripts which does everything for you includeing turning acceleration on.
One for radeon as well
One thing, after dist-upgrade with kanotix sometimes you need to run his fix-fonts.sh script.
After a kernel upgrade, you must reinstall vid drivers, although I never had them break after a kernel upgrade.
What I mean by maintaining your kanotix install as debian install is i only have "unstable" in apt/sources.list and run dist-upgrade only.....those two thingas and the fact that I installed with the "debian" option is pretty much a debian install now but with kanos kernel and added scripts.
