help i broke it!?

so everything has been real swell with debian so far.

I tried to install file-rc via apt. and now things are pretty messed up. Apt says it cant find update-rc.d which is supposed to be part of sysvinit, which i can't install because it is already installed.
i'm pretty sure that i wont be able to reboot with broken dependancies.
as it stands now, if i run apt-get -f install
it wants to install sysv-rc sysvinit
but fails because update-rc.d is not there.

so what do i do?

update-rc.d's just a script, perhaps if you downloaded a new copy and place it in /usr/sbin (as well as changing the permissions to 755) that might be enough to let you remove sysvinit and reinstall it.
