google-talkplugin 4.7.0.0-1 and testing doesn't work

google talkplugin 4.7.0.0-1 isn't working for me on jessie. does anyone know when this version became stable and maybe if it works on stable debian? I've tried it on chromium, chrome, and firefox. I go to the Google+ page, where I'm signed in, and I try to start a hangout. My camera just never turns on. At some point the window that the plugin is supposed to live in (the window does open) asks me to reinstall the plugin, and it then asks me for my desired OS and architecture - so that it can download for me the proper package. Reinstalling google-talkplugin does not help, though. Does anyone else have this experience?

Yes, I don't use Google much these days for obvious reasons but I tried it and I downloaded the .deb file called google-talkplugin_current_amd64.deb. I installed the package using dpkg like this:
Code:
$ sudo dpkg -i google-talkplugin_current_amd64
[sudo] password for jdkaye:
Google still complained and tried to get me to reinstall the very same .deb file. I refused. Could it be the evil hand of GCHQ that is causing this?

Jessie won't become stable for at least a couple of years. I would doubt that the google plugin would work in stable. I'd suspect that Google will get it working in a few days. Patience!

yes it works now. they say on the google page that chrome won't work any more (uses libudev0), but that debian's chromium still will (uses libudev1). this doesn't effect me as I use firefox. I haven't even tried chrome. At some time in the future I may want to use chrome, but for now I'm just pleased that the plugin works again. Thanks jdkaye.

I need libudev0 as it is a dependency of xbmc. I need libcairo2 as it is a dependency of gimp. Can we compile google-talkplugin from source or is there another solution or another option for video chat Linux to other OS
