Yes, I don't use Google much these days for obvious reasons
but I tried it and I downloaded the .deb file called
google-talkplugin_current_amd64.deb. I installed the package using dpkg like this:
Code:
$ sudo dpkg -i google-talkplugin_current_amd64
[sudo] password for jdkaye:
Google still complained and tried to get me to reinstall the very same .deb file. I refused. Could it be the evil hand of GCHQ that is causing this?

does anyone know when this version became stable

Jessie won't become stable for at least a couple of years. I would doubt that the google plugin would work in stable. I'd suspect that Google will get it working in a few days. Patience!
