Gnome Problem w/ Sound
I installed Etch on a PC today and did not want it to load Firefox 1.5.0.7 be default so I did not do a GUI install of Debian or "Desktop Environment" as they call it. I then ran the normal APT updates and upgrades and did the following:
Code:
apt-get install x-window-system gdm gnome Now the problem is that once Gnome installs and I start X, the sound is always muted be default. I can open the sound options and enable and crank up the bars however this goes away when I reboot the box or kill X. Why does this happen and how do I fix this? Anyone? |
Hi try this : apt-get install --reinstall alsa-utils
then type: " alsaconf " run through the config. thats it, all should work on boot up now. cheers |
