I recently started using gnome(found a way to make it look more "eye-candyish"). Any way, I was experimenting w/ adding panels and so forth. I added a panel, then gnome froze. So I did 'ctrl-alt-F1', '/etc/init.d/gdm stop', '/etc/init.d/gdm start', and then gnome gave me an error about already finding a panel open, exiting. It did this maybe 10-15 times. Now I don't have either panel anymore, and I can't figure out how to get them back. I had a blank panel(not one I'm overly worried about), and the basic "start bar" type panel at the bottom. Both are gone. Suggestions?
*****EDIT******Fixed, all it took was a simple reboot. Sorry!

mmm....i think someone had this problem before, the easiest solution was to back up your files, just to be safe, and what this lad did was to login as root and make a new user, to which then he moved all his files from the old user name to the new one, this was the easiest solution to his problem, which was the same as yours, losing his panels, try that, good luck
