Gnome -> log in as root ???

Hi there,

I have just installed Woody, and I use Gnome now.
I am very happy with this, but I am not able to log in as Root in Gnome Desktop Manager.
I also can't reboot or shut the computer down ...

In GDM, I can only choose from 2 options, "Session" and "Language" so there is no possibility to alter the options ...

How can I fix this annoying problem ?

enter as user, once in, do a 'su' at the terminal, become root, do your thing. Do not enter as root, especially in the internet. Do you have a firewall? Read the Debian Configuration Post-Install sticky at the top of this forum.

to get out:
become root (see above)

#shutdown -h now

OR

#halt

to reboot:
#reboot

OR

#shutdown -r now

nope, don't have firewall (yet)

I use a Asus Pundit, and I would like to install MythTV on it.
The problem is, I can't get the damn ethernet card running.
I downloaded the driver from Asus' site, but I don't get it properly installed.

Install the sarge net-installer pre-rc2
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

at the boot prompt press F1 and other Fn keys if you want the kernel 2.6 .
