Getting Flash Player From deb-multimedia.org

I am using Debian 8.6.0, 64-bit. I am very much a newbie.

I am trying to understand how to add the non-free section of deb-multimedia.org and install package
Quote:
flashplayer-mozilla
This article: https://deb-multimedia.org/ states that I should add
Quote:
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org jessie main non-free
or
deb ftp://ftp.deb-multimedia.org jessie main non-free
or
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org stable main non-free
or
deb ftp://ftp.deb-multimedia.org stable main non-free
to my /etc/apt/sources.list file. Further to that, it is my understanding that I should then run
Code:
apt-get update && apt-get flashplayer-mozilla
.

Does it sound about right? I'm trying to do this thing properly as I don't want to create a mess with my Debian installation.

Also, I don't understand how the 64-bit version of flashplayer-mozilla would be installed as it is not specified anywhere in the apt-get command.

if you are running 64bit, and it is a 64bit app you get 64bit

It's "apt-get install flashplayer-mozilla". The packages does exist in dmo under that name, so I guess you just missed the install part of apt

To answer your actual question....Yes.
Edit the /etc/apt/source.list file as sudo or root using an editor adding just one of those lines, I would use: deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org jessie main non-free

Would this not work for what you're trying to do? Its in the repo's already.

Code:
root@mycomputer:~# apt-cache search adobe
flashplugin-nonfree - Adobe Flash Player - browser plugin

Agreed with erik. While deb-multimedia is a great repository, I used it at one time, as a newbie I suggest you avoid it. You may end up with a broken system when the packages there collide with the official repos.

Method 1) You can retrieve for example the deb:

ex. for wheezy:
flashplugin-nonfree_1%3a3.2+wheezy1_i386.deb
flashplugin-nonfree_1%3a3.2_i386.deb

https://packages.debian.org/
Quote:
Debian -- Packages
05.07.2016 - Search for Debian official packages in any of the three branches - stable, testing and unstable - by keyword, section and other criteria.

Method 2) Or the classical method apt-get install or aptitude, after adding non-free to your sources.list and apt-get update.

Beware that for raspberry arm/armel you wont find it. Go for pepper...

try this 1st

Code:
$ apt search flashplugin-nonfree
Sorting... Done
Full Text Search... Done
flashplugin-nonfree/stable,now 1:3.6.1+deb8u1 i386 [installed]
Adobe Flash Player - browser plugin

flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound/stable 0.0.svn2431-5 i386
Adobe Flash Player platform support library for Esound and OSS
To see if you have it available in your repos 1st. Or use synaptic package manager and look for "flashplugin-nonfree"

Edit: oh yeah. To show you what esr version you are running.

Code:
$ apt-cache policy iceweasel
iceweasel:
  Installed: 45.7.0esr-1~deb8u1
  Candidate: 45.7.0esr-1~deb8u1
  Version table:

Dear rokytnji,
due to frequent crash (I have no idea why) by firefox ESR, I have removed iceweasel and installed just firefox.
After that, I have installed flashplayer (not flashplugin-nonfree),searching a solution for that on web, though typing the commands you suggested to me above, I have, in my repo:

Code:
flashplugin-nonfree/stable,now 1:3.6.1+deb8u1 amd64 [configurazione residua] Adobe Flash Player - browser plugin flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound/stable 0.0.svn2431-5 amd64 Adobe Flash Player platform support library for Esound and OSS pepperflashplugin-nonfree/stable 1.8.1+deb8u1 amd64 Pepper Flash Player - browser plugin
Now the flash installation is OK, but the videos (for example on youtube)stutters. Might be because I am on a virtual machine?

Could be or your internet service provider is choking down your speeds on their server. mine don't crash or stutter here in the desert boon docks in the middle of no where.

ps. youtube uses html5.

Is strange because I am on a fiber connection and I don't have "fluidity" problems on my host machine (Windows 10). Might be a memory (or something related) issue reserved (I reserved 2048MB for my Debian virtualized) for the VM or another configuration?

How much video memory did you allocate to this virtual machine? may need up it.

In the general setting for my VM, I read memory video: 16MB and memory allocation for the machine 2048MB. I try to change the memory video value.
