The same time Debian always makes a release: when it's ready. ;)

Seriously though, I don't know. But, once you've got Debian installed, it's not so much a concern, since you just keep apt-get updating your system anyway.

Sounds like a plan. :) You might consider grabbing a Sarge netinst image with the new debian-installer on it.

wooo

posting from my new sarge install

is there a gui for editing grub? i gotta add a boot option for my winxp install...

also, my sound stuff doens't seem to have been detected/installed properly. the speaker in the top right corner (of gnome) has a big red line through it. When I click on it it says "Couldn't open mixer device /dev/sound/mixer". Any ideas?

For reference, I installed the base system, did
apt-get install x-window-system
apt-get install gnome-core
apt-get install gnome

checking that each step worked, before proceeding to the next.

thanks a millilllion!

Sweeeeet.

Don't know about a GUI for editing grub, but note that many debian packages can be configured by running
Code:
dpkg-reconfigure package_name
Also, regarding getting your sound system working, you may want to search other threads on this board. I'm guessing it's a pretty common issue.

(if you can find them, grubs is called menu.lst for some reason...)
