Getting CD audio through PCI soundcard NOT motherboard soundcard

Greetings,
I have a Debian Sarge system that I have recently compiled the 2.6-10 kernel for. The kernel works great with ALSA and my M-Audio Delta 410 sound card (ICE1712). However, I have a small problem. Both my CD players feed their audio to the motherboard. My ASUS P4P8-SE motherboard has some crappy on-board audio that I don't want to use. I don't think I compiled it into the kernel.
Through the course of debugging why my cd player was not working, I found that there was a trickle of cd audio coming through the on-board audio out. The question is...can I somehow route the cd audio through my M-Audio card? I realize that I can just use a program like Totem and have it decode the digital stream, but it would be much nicer (and more computationally efficient) to let the cdrom decoder do this. (FYI - there is no place to plug the CD audio cable into on my M-Audio card - bummer)
Any ideas???

misc inf: Debian Sarge (testing snapshot ~1/1/05), linux kernel 2.6-10, Celeron 2.6GHz, ASUS P4P8-SE motherboard, M-Audio Delta 410 soundcard, Soundblaster Live! (disabled in kernel), 512 DDR
