Gallery v1.5, which packages needed..

Hey, first off, I don't want to install gallery via apt-get, I just want to get it, unzip it and configure it up.

(I tried doing it with apt-get before but it really didn't like it with my domain software and config etc, so I had to remove it)

I asked on the actual Gallery forums, but didn't get any responses to my post.

I'm running through the install now, and I get these few warnings that I'd like to fix up if possible.

Quote:
Missing optional binary pnmcomp. Without pnmcomp and pamcomp gallery will not be able to watermark images, unless you use ImageMagick and have the composite binary installed.

12 of 13 NetPBM binaries located.
This is the first, I've actually installed netpbm, but it's not wanting to install whatever this pnmcomp is, any ideas??

Next one is ImageMagick, which I know you can use instead of NetPBM, but I'd still like to fix up the warning.

Quote:
Missing optional binary composite. Without composite gallery will not be able to watermark images, except you use NetPBM and have the pnmcomp binary installed.

2 of 3 ImageMagick binaries located.
So I need this composite binary :S as well...

Also, says that it can't find jhead, but it is installed on the system, and a different Gallery program manages to pick it up fine and use it, so is there something that needs to be done to kind of "register" it or something? So that it's more easily seen? Not sure about that.

So apart from that, that's the only few problems I have, so any help would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me what packages I might be missing, or if I have to add more sources to my apt list.

Thanks

It's a pain trying to keep gallery updated by hand, I used to do it. If I were you, I'd just go with the gallery maintained by debian. Just because it comes as an alias for 'gallery' doesn't mean you can't configure it however you like it. They are just giving you a setup that most people would use. (heck, you don't even have to do the whole alias thing at all if you just symlink it)

/etc/apache2/conf.d/gallery.conf

If you don't like it on that, then just delete it from there and toss the settings inside /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/virtual_site.conf

But if you want to just 'unzip' the source and install it by hand... Each of those things it complains about having in the setup can easily be searched via http://packages.debian.org. If it doesn't locate some binary that you know you have, don't worry about it and on the configuration tab, just manually point it to that binary like it was designed, or edit the config file to point to it.
