Unhappy frozen desktop


Dear All,

i have installed a debian 6.0.3 on a dell optiplex 790 and have created a root passwords and other 2 accounts and all the accounts tested and worked normally

suddenly something very weired happened while trying to login ,after set the password the screen is being dark for a second and then returns a frozen desktop , empty of any any icons might appears except for the mouse curser but it's frozen as well

i tried with the another account and same issue happened

can you help me as this issue annoying me and i can not start make the server live according to that problem

If it is a gnome problem (assuming that the default installation installs gnome) or one of it's (useless) components, install something simpler like openbox, log in there and see if the same thing happens. If it does, it may be some xorg issue, like improper driver or missing firmware. If it does not do the same, blame gnome or nautilus or whatever starts with it.
