For linux Newbies: Is there any debs for aptitude-gtk ?

Hello,

Aptitude gtk is perfect for windows users;
unfortunately it isnt in repositories. Somethings weird, cuz windows users like interfaces.
So is there any debs for aptitude-gtk for debian stable ? My deb is ok, but not perfect.

For linux Newbies: Is there any debs for aptitude-gtk ?

Thanks for newbies
Happy Tux

Newbies who can't deal with Aptitude as it is should not be messing around with Debian.

Aptitude-GTK made great strides during the summer while Goggle was paying. Now it's on a slow track again. I doubt it, but you may be able to find a .deb somewhere. If you do, It ain't ready for newbies.

Doesn't synaptic do what you want?

Synaptic does not coordinate with Aptitude, and is therefore useless except as a search tool, for people who can't be bothered or are unable to learn Aptitude's superior search mechanism.

You probably missed at least two other ways to insult me, rick, but yes, you are right that synaptic is not a complete replacement for aptitude. I use them both, depending on what I'm trying to do.

Definitely was not trying to insult you. Only trying to emphasize the fact to any deer-in-the-headlights newbies who wander in that Aptitude should be the first consideration when they set out to learn Debian.

Hmm! Just when I had given up on any immediate release, aptitude, version .5, has popped up in Experimental. This is the first GUI version ... so far i386 only.
